Bituproof Y Horizontal
Waterproofing Products
Bituproof Y Horizontal
BTM Bituproof Y is an SBS-modified (elastomeric bitumen) waterproofing membrane with a special polyester felt carrier, which can be used as a single-layer waterproofing system beneath raft foundations.
It bonds to reinforced concrete surfaces by reacting mechanically and through the heat of hydration. It is a high-performance bituminous membrane with high elasticity that can be applied using a torch.
ADVANTAGES
-Applied as a single loose-laid layer.
-Does not require a protective concrete layer, saving time and costs.
-Resistant to hydrostatic pressure, puncture, and tearing thanks to its high-strength special polyester felt carrier.
-Minimizes workmanship errors through its self-adhesive and torch-welded joint system.
-Prevents horizontal movement of water thanks to full adhesion to the concrete surface.
AREAS OF USE
-Beneath foundations and for tanking applications
SURFACE PREPARATION
The blinding concrete must be poured to a sufficient thickness and strength, with a properly finished surface.
There must be no loose aggregate or sharp protrusions on the surface. The substrate must be swept and cleaned before application.
APPLICATION METHOD
After the blinding concrete poured beneath the foundation has achieved sufficient setting and strength, the overlaps (joints) of Bituproof Y should be heated and bonded using a torch.
The overlaps on the long edges should be 10 cm, while the overlaps on the 1-meter-wide short edges should be at least 15 cm.
The membrane should be installed with a 30 cm stagger to prevent the long-edge overlaps from aligning with each other.
PACKAGING
Bituproof Y 3.5: supplied in rolls measuring 1 m in width and 10 m in length.
Bituproof Y 4.5: supplied in rolls measuring 1 m in width and 8 m in length.
STORAGE CONDITIONS AND SHELF LIFE
-Bituminous membrane rolls must be transported in an upright position.
-Precautions must be taken to prevent the membrane rolls from tipping over during transportation.
-Bituminous membrane rolls must be stored upright in covered warehouses with a level floor.
-Bituminous membranes must not be stacked on top of each other.
-Care must be taken during internal handling or unloading/loading operations to prevent the rolls from being subjected to hard impacts.
-If the rolls need to be stored outdoors for an extended period, they must be covered to protect them from sunlight.
The shelf life is 1 year from the date of manufacture when stored in its original, unopened and undamaged packaging, under dry conditions,
protected from direct sunlight, at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C.
