BTM Polibit
BTM Polibit
BTM Polibit is a waterproofing membrane with a glass-fiber or polyester felt carrier, manufactured from bitumen modified with APP (atactic polypropylene),
featuring a PE (polyethylene) film on the underside and either a PE (polyethylene) film or colored granule coating on the upper surface, applied using a torch.
ADVANTAGES
Superior performance in hot and moderately cold climates
AREAS OF USE
-On terrace roofs of buildings
-On sloped concrete roofs
-On foundation retaining walls
-To provide waterproofing and moisture protection in foundations
-Designed for temperate climates and used as an underlay or intermediate-layer membrane in waterproofing systems
-Used for waterproofing pressurized and non-pressurized groundwater or surface water.
SURFACE PREPARATION
The surface on which BTM Waterproofing Membrane Polibit will be applied must be free of dust, dirt, rust, and oil,
and loose particles must be removed. Depending on the application surface, BTS 100
or BTR 100 primer should be applied where necessary, and it should be allowed to dry completely.
APPLICATION METHOD
If the surfaces to be waterproofed with BTM Waterproofing Membrane Polibit are concrete, they must be finished with a wood-float-finished sloped screed and be clean and dry. Before applying BTM Waterproofing
Membrane Polibit, bituminous solution primer BTS 100 (TS103)
or bituminous emulsion primer BTR 100 (TS113) must be applied to the surface and allowed to dry.
Waterproofing Membrane Bonding Rules
Depending on the slope of the substrate, BTM Waterproofing Membrane Polibit
application should begin from the lower elevation and proceed toward the higher elevation. BTM Polibit is heated with a torch flame and bonded to the surface.
The rows must always be staggered. For the 1-meter-wide short-edge overlaps of the membrane,
a 15 cm overlap should be provided, while the long-edge overlaps should have a minimum 10 cm overlap
and a roller should be used to bond the joints. Between layers, a 50 cm stagger should be maintained on the short edge
and 5 m on the long edge.
•Bituminous membrane applications must be carried out by certified application teams.
•Application should not be carried out at temperatures of +5 oC or below during winter months.
•If application is to be carried out in cold weather, membrane rolls must be stored for at least 24 hours before application in enclosed
and heated areas with a temperature above 5 oC, and the membranes brought to the application site must be applied immediately. Failure to comply with this rule may result in
cracks forming on the membrane surface.
•When unrolling membrane rolls at the application site for alignment purposes, they should be unrolled slowly and carefully.
•Applied waterproofing layers must be protected against impacts/mechanical damage.
PACKAGING
BTM Waterproofing Membrane Polibit is supplied in rolls measuring 1 m in width and 10 m in length.
STORAGE CONDITIONS AND SHELF LIFE
•Bituminous membrane rolls must be transported in an upright position.
•Precautions must be taken to prevent the membrane rolls from tipping over during transportation.
•Bituminous membrane rolls must be stored upright in covered warehouses with a level floor
and in an upright position.
•Bituminous membranes must not be stacked on top of each other.
•Care must be taken during internal handling or unloading/loading operations to prevent the rolls from being subjected to hard impacts.
•If the rolls need to be stored outdoors for an extended period, they must be covered to protect them from sunlight.
