Teknomer Expansion Joint Tape
Teknomer Expansion Joint Tape
Product Description
Thermoplastic elastomer-based expansion joint tape with mesh-reinforced edges, 200 mm wide.
Areas of Use
•For interior and exterior applications,
•In all types of engineering structures such as dams, highways, tunnels, and metro systems,
•In water tanks, swimming pools, parking garages, and shopping centers,
•In highly movement-prone joints,
•For horizontal and vertical applications in expansion joints,
•At foundation-to-retaining wall junctions, for both interior and exterior applications,
•For waterproofing structural separations and construction joints in exterior applications.
•Applied beneath areas that are to be covered with a suitable adhesive or sealant.
Properties and Advantages
•Provides waterproofing in expansion joints.
•Resistant to various chemicals.
•Resolves details in horizontal and vertical applications when bonded with TEKNOBOND 400 D.
•After waterproofing expansion joints with TEKNOMER EXPANSION JOINT TAPE, expansion joint profiles can be installed over it to provide an aesthetic solution.
•Resistant to weather conditions and water.
•Can be easily applied even in expansion joints where polyurethane mastic is not used.
•Resistant to plant roots.
Application Instructions
Surface Preparation: The application surface must be cleaned of substances that may prevent adhesion, such as dust, oil, curing agents, detergents, form-release oils, and silicone. The surface may be dry or slightly damp. Application on wet or snow-covered surfaces and during rainy weather is not recommended.
Cleaning: After application, the product must be protected against adverse weather conditions such as direct sunlight, strong winds, high air temperatures (above +35°C), rain, and frost. Hands should be cleaned with water and detergent before the product has fully cured and hardened.
Application Notes / Limitations
•TEKNOMER EXPANSION JOINT TAPE is cut with scissors or a utility knife according to the length of the expansion joint to be treated. If desired, a polyethylene backer rod larger than the expansion joint width can be placed inside the joint.
•The tape is raised slightly upward to form a curved profile. The two-component epoxy-based TEKNOBOND 400 D is mixed and applied to both concrete surfaces with a trowel.
•The surface of TEKNOMER EXPANSION JOINT TAPE is wiped and cleaned with a small amount of thinner and then positioned over the expansion joint to form a curved profile. If joints are required between tape sections, they should overlap by at least 10 cm. The overlapping areas are joined by applying hot-air welding to the top and bottom sides until the material melts and fuses.
•TEKNOBOND 400 D should be visible emerging upward through the holes on the sides of TEKNOMER EXPANSION JOINT TAPE. After the first coat of TEKNOBOND 400 D has hardened, the second coat should be applied over it.
•The product should be removed from its packaging only when ready for use. Before and after application, care should be taken to prevent sharp or cutting tools from damaging the product.
