Teknomer 205 Fully Elastic Waterproofing Material
Teknomer 205 Fully Elastic Waterproofing Material
Product Description
It is a two-component, cement- and acrylic-based, polymer-reinforced, fully elastic waterproofing material containing special additives. It is applied to concrete, retaining walls, and cement-based plasters from either the interior or exterior against leakage and surface water.
Areas of Use
•Residential buildings, shopping centers, hospitals,
•Vertical and horizontal applications in interior and exterior spaces,
•Foundation waterproofing and retaining walls,
•Facilities such as thermal baths and Turkish baths,
•Water tanks, swimming pools, and decorative pools,
•Terraces (provided that it is protected),
•Wet areas such as bathrooms, WCs, and balconies.
Properties and Advantages
•Does not require water.
•Can be applied by hand or by spraying.
•Long working time.
•Does not shrink or crack.
•Can be applied to fresh screed and concrete surfaces thanks to its crack-bridging capability.
•Prevents carbonation in concrete.
•Can be used in drinking water tanks as it contains no corrosive or toxic substances.
•Protects concrete against de-icing salts such as calcium and sodium chloride, seawater, and carbon dioxide gas.
•High resistance to chloride ions.
Application Instructions
Surface Quality: Surfaces must be clean, smooth, sound, and free from all dust, oil, dirt, rust, form-release oil, detergents, and similar substances and residues that may prevent adhesion. If there is segregation in the concrete, defective and loose parts must be removed and weak sections must be eliminated. If there are cracks or cavities in the floor or wall to be treated, they must be repaired using suitable TEKNOREP repair mortars. Ensure that the sloping screed or concrete has been laid in the direction of water flow. The slope should be checked as follows.
Place a straightedge from the starting point toward the drain and place a spirit level on top of it. If the inspection shows that there is no slope or that the slope is reversed, application must not be started. The water flow direction must first be corrected by carrying out the necessary work on the concrete or screed. If necessary, additional screed or concrete should be applied.
Surface Preparation: If the surface to be waterproofed is dry, it must be wetted and saturated with water before application. Sharp corners and edges should be formed with TEKNOREP 300 Thick Repair Mortar. In wet areas and balconies where ceramic tiles will be installed, TEKNOMER Corner Tapes should be applied to all corners beforehand.
Slowly add 25 kg of powder mortar to 10 liters of liquid component and mix thoroughly until lump-free. Mixing with a low-speed mixer operating below 500 rpm is recommended. Allow the mortar to rest for 5 minutes for maturation, then mix again for 1 - 2 minutes before application. Apply the prepared mortar to the surface in 2 coats using a roller or brush. Allow approximately 5 - 6 hours between coats, depending on the temperature. The coats should be applied perpendicular to each other. A total application thickness of 2 - 3 mm will be sufficient.
Application Notes / Limitations
•Care should be taken to prevent mechanical damage to the waterproofing material during the coating process.
•As it is cement-based, do not inhale the powder and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
•Do not apply to wood, chipboard, MDF, plywood, PVC, or metal surfaces.
•Only its own liquid component must be used in the mixture. Water must never be added.
•No foreign materials should be added.
•Protection is required to achieve the expected long-term performance of the product. To protect against any punctures, scratches, and impacts that may occur after application, tiles, ceramics, plaster, or screed should be applied after 3 days.
•After application, the product must be protected against adverse weather conditions such as direct sunlight, strong winds, high air temperatures (above +35°C), rain, and frost. Hands should be cleaned with water and detergent before the product has fully cured and hardened.
•Immediately after application, while the product has not yet hardened, equipment should be cleaned with water. Once the product has hardened, it should be cleaned using mechanical methods.
•After the product has been thoroughly mixed and allowed to rest for 3 - 5 minutes, it should be applied to the water-saturated surface using a brush and/or trowel before the surface loses its moisture. After the first coat has initially set, the second coat should be applied perpendicular to the first coat. If desired, reinforcing glass fiber mesh can be used between the coats. The waiting time between coats is determined by the following: the next coat can be applied when a manual check confirms that no mark is left on the fingers after touching the first coat.
