Teknoself Self-Leveling Screed
Teknoself Self-Levelling Floor Screed
Product Description
It is a one-component, synthetic polymer-modified, self-levelling floor screed specially formulated for thin-layer applications with enhanced adhesion strength.
Areas of Use
Used as a levelling screed in interior and exterior areas, beneath materials such as tiles, ceramics, porcelain tiles, marble, natural granite, parquet, PVC, and carpet.
Properties and Advantages
• Features self-levelling and rapid-setting properties.
• Resistant to furniture and wheelchair loads.
• Does not crack even when applied in very thin layers and provides excellent adhesion.
• Suitable for underfloor heating systems.
• Easy to apply.
Application Instructions
Surfaces must be clean, smooth, sound, and free from all dust, oil, dirt, rust, form-release oil, detergents, and similar substances and residues that may prevent adhesion. Surfaces must be level, and weak sections must be removed. If there are cracks or cavities in the floor or wall to be treated, they must be repaired using suitable TEKNOREP repair mortars. TEKNOSELF application should begin 3-4 days later. Depressions on the surface must be repaired with TEKNOREP. The surface must be free from oil, dirt, and rust. Dry surfaces should be lightly dampened, but standing water must not be allowed to remain. For improved adhesion before application, TEKNOLATEX 500 should be used on absorbent surfaces, while TEKNOLATEX 300 should be used on smooth surfaces.
The prepared material is poured and spread over the primed floor. A spiked roller can be used to eliminate air bubbles from the surface. If primer is not used, the desired level of surface smoothness cannot be achieved. After application, the surface must be protected from strong winds and frost. Appropriate protection measures should therefore be taken.
TEKNOSELF is a one-component product. To ensure a homogeneous mixture, a low-speed drill and mixing paddle are recommended. Add 6.0 - 6.5 L of water to the bucket, then slowly add the powder material and continue mixing until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. The amount of mixing water may vary depending on the ambient temperature. The fully mixed material must be spread and levelled within 30 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature.
Application Notes / Limitations
• After application, the surface must be protected from adverse weather conditions such as direct sunlight, strong winds, high air temperatures (above +35°C), rain, and frost.
• An application thicker than 0.5 mm must not be made in a single coat. For applications thicker than 5 mm, the material must be applied layer by layer. TEKNOSELF 500 may also be preferred for thicker applications.
• After application, the floor must be protected from contact with water. It must not be used in areas continuously exposed to water.
• Depending on the ambient temperature, the surface can be walked on after a minimum of 24 hours. However, it is recommended to wait at least 3 days before carrying out any work on the surface.
• Cleaning should be carried out with water before TEKNOSELF has fully cured and hardened. Since hardening will be completed several days after application, cleaning can only be performed using mechanical equipment afterward.
• Immediately after application, while the product has not yet hardened, equipment should be washed with water and hands should be cleaned with warm water and soap.
