Ventilation:
Proper natural ventilation must be provided to prevent the wooden panels and structural elements forming the roof substrate beneath the shingle from expanding and contracting due to variations in moisture and temperature,
which could damage the shingle layer. This natural ventilation system
should be designed to allow air to enter through the eaves and exit near the ridge.
As a general rule, a total ventilation opening of 1 m2 should be provided for every 300 m2 of attic area.
Half of the total ventilation opening calculated according to this ratio
should be allocated evenly to air intake through the eaves, while the other half should be allocated to air exhaust near the ridge.
Our accessory range includes two types of shingle ventilation vents for air exhaust,
available with or without covers. These vents should be installed near the ridge at a rate of one unit per 10 m2.
Before installing the vent at the designated location, the OSB
board should be cut to match the dimensions of the opening beneath the flange of the shingle ventilation vent, after which the vent should be installed.
Appropriately sized openings should also be provided at the eaves for air intake and protected with
mesh to prevent birds and insects from entering. Our company cannot be held liable for deformation or cracking of the shingle
sheets caused by movement of the roof substrate due to inadequate natural ventilation within the roof space.
